Welcome to my portfolio!
Self Photo Critique - Still Life
I chose this photo to self critique because I thought it was one of the best out of my still life portfolio. This photo was taken in South Lake Tahoe along the beach. The most obvious subject in this picture would be the boats floating in the water, but I believe there are many different subjects. When I look at this picture my eyes are drawn to the pink clouds and rough mountains in the background. My eyes also follow the different reflections in the water, along with the many boats lined down the dock in the foreground.
I was walking down the beach in the early evening shooting random pictures, when the beautiful sky caught my eye. It seemed like the farther I walked down the beach the better my image of the picture became. The boats came into focus and the pink sky reflecting off the water all added to the breathe taking effect the image has.
The elements of art this picture contains, are angles from the boats, texture from the clouds, color of the sky and water, the lines from the boats masts, and the soft lighting throughout the whole picture. This photo is meaningful to me because it was taken during my birthday weekend when I turned sixteen years old. It makes me appreciate the beautiful things in life that are right in front of us but we often over look. Instead of taking the time to stop and admire the amazing view. I believe this shows I am becoming a stronger photographer and have even more potential to grow.
